Our company and credentials:

Brenda is President of Powers & Associates, in partnership with her husband, Tom Haughney. The firm offers consulting services in human resources, management, customer service, and sales. Brenda has her MBA from Wingate University and her BS in Mathematics from the University of Memphis. She also holds two certifications from World At Work and Society of Human Resources Management. Brenda has over twenty-eight years of experience working for such companies as Coca-Cola Bottling Co. Consolidated Provident Health Systems, Methodist Health Systems, National Bank of Commerce, and Union Planters National Bank. She served as an executive in human resources and/or operations for these positions before she and her husband founded Powers & Associates. In its four-year history, the consulting firm has successfully completed projects for firms ranging from two to two thousand employees. Powers & Associates was recognized as one of the finalists for the Charlotte's 2002 and 2003 Ethics in Business Awards. She is an active volunteer in the non-profit and business community.


Mr. Haughney is Principal/Consultant for Powers & Associates. He heads up responsibilities for areas of business development, finance, information technology, operations, sales, and customer service training. He has over 25 years experience in sales, marketing, operations management, and business development as a member of a corporate team and as an entrepreneur. Tom received his BS degree in education, history, and political science from the University of Memphis. Mr. Haughney has extensive experience in behavioral science and is also certified in the five-factor model of personality assessment. He is actively involved in the Ministry At Work program at his church, and recently served as coordinator for a Habitat for Humanity building project. He is a board member of Habitat, also. He has held management and sales/ marketing/ business development positions in such organizations as SmithKline Beecham, The Kroger Company, The Southland Corporation, and Litton Industries.


Ed is an attorney, certified mediator, trainer, and advisor focusing on Human Resources issues. A former EEOC trial attorney, he is now a proponent of litigation prevention through sound and effective employee relations practices and alternate dispute resolution techniques. He is a graduate of Duke University and holds a law degree from Wake Forest University. Ed has over a decade of experience resolving labor and employment disputes. While at the EEOC, Ed undertook outreach efforts to small and medium-size businesses to assist them in complying with federal legal mandates. He has conducted training with franchises, small and medium-size service and manufacturing firms, industry trade groups, government agencies and educators. He is also a published author of labor law training materials.

Lourdes is an associate of Powers & Associates providing bilingual services to corporations with a growing Hispanic workforce and also to companies that want to reach the Latin consumer through effective communication and cultural understanding. Lourdes' experience includes training, operations management, human resources, administration, insurance sales and real estate. Mrs. Kistler is a volunteer with her church, Ministry At Work, and other community programs.
